The Lost Frequencies Radio Project Alternative: Archived, Alive, Amplified
Djo — the musical alias of actor/musician Joe Keery — just landed his first-ever No. 1 on the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart with “Basic Being Basic.” The track becomes the eighth first-time leader on the chart this year, a milestone not seen since 2012. And there’s still room for more: Turnstile and Wet Leg are still rising, which means 2025 could set a new record for breakout chart-toppers.
“Basic Being Basic” is the lead single from The Crux, Djo’s third studio album, which debuted at No. 6 on the Top Alternative Albums chart earlier this year. The song’s momentum is real — it just jumped to No. 16 on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart, pulling in 2.3 million audience impressions, according to Luminate.
Djo’s slick, off-kilter indie rock has been a Frequency Shift favorite on the LFRP for months, and with The Crux still circulating, it’s clear he’s not slowing down. Expect deeper cuts in Fresh Frequencies and plenty of “Basic Being Basic” on repeat.
